I have been collecting (hoarding) antique and vintage plates for almost as long as I can remember. Recently, I have been trying to photograph them.

I scored this amazing collection  at a rummage sale for $5, but I felt so guilty for getting such a good deal from a church that I paid $15.

A cup of tea is always nicer if it is served in a pretty cup. The sad part of it though is that pretty cups are often intolerably small. I found that a single serving tea pot is the answer to this terrible dilemma.

I can’t help faffing around and taking impractical photos of flowers on pretty plates. This is an assortment of edible flowers that I used to decorate my daughter’s birthday cupcakes. It was both extremely easy and almost free since I had already spent all of my money buying flowers.

This is how they looked, served on another vintage plate. I bought it at a garage sale- it had been made many years previously by the woman selling it. I assured her it was going to a good home.

This one is an heirloom from some deceased great- relative. I kept it as a treasure under my bed from about the age of 10-25 when I started actually using it. If I only look at the thing once per year when I am purging the precious space under my bed, I figured that even if I broke it within one month, I would get to look at it more than in a whole lifetime of it living under my bed.

I think the best part about having lots of inexpensive cups and saucers is that my kids think it is totally normal to use them on a daily basis.

Why not let your tea get cold while taking photos of it with more flowers?

I have never, ever, been able to get a photo of my favorite plate arrangement over my kitchen door, so this will have to suffice.

This photo either shows my incredible skill of multi-tasking or that I am a poser.

Stay tuned for another post of impractical photos taken while I probably should have been sweeping the floor.
