I’ve battled my hair for my whole life. I tried perming it, pouring lemon juice all over it and lying in the sun and wishing, as a child, that I had the faith the size of a mustard seed to wake up with perfect ringlets.
Alas.
While I’ve long since come to terms of having straight dark blonde hair, I’ve still tried lots of products to give it a bit of volume. Most hair products are expensive and contain chemicals I’d rather not pour all over my head. In addition, I’ve been struggling with gross looking oily hair that needs to be washed nearly everyday so I don’t look like one of Charles Dicken’s women in the parish workhouse.
I came across the idea of treating hair with bentonite clay* and decided to give it a go. The clay is kind of like a gross vacuum cleaner of impurities. It is amazing! My hair was so full of volume the next day and had no signs of greasiness. I can easily say that it was the best hair treatment that I’ve ever tried!
It is super easy! All you have to do is wet your head, then massage a tablespoon of clay on your scalp with both hands. I use about four or five tablespoons total- I just want to make sure that most of my scalp is lightly covered. After that, let it dry for 20-30 minutes and wash/dry like normal! For an added bonus you can also rinse it with apple cider vinegar.
