Its very existence is poetic. The scent of lavender fills the air- calming my whole beingĀ  Bees gently buzz here and there throughout the many rows of various shades of purple. Everything is soothed by the heavy sent of lavender, known for its soothing proprieties. Volunteers calmly weed while customers wander the fields, gathering fresh cuttings while breathing in the scented air.

I overhear one volunteer explaining that she does this for herself, that her job is stressful and this calms her. She chats away with customers while pulling weeds here and there. The owner, David, happily explains to customers how to grow their own plants from cuttings and offers a plethora of advice on growing one’s own lavender. You can tell that he loves his farm.

I don’t get to experience this mentality very often. Most of our world is so fast paced that everything goes by in a whirl. Here, as one David explains, you can pick lavender, you can sit and you can just enjoy being present.

Lavenlair is open for u-pick from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm (until Sept. 2nd)

I plan to go back many times.
