This natural insect repellent for roses works very well. I do not use poisonous insecticides because it can harm to the environment. I planted a huge native garden to attract pollinators and other insects- the last thing that I want to do is destroy them! However, I do have a few David Austin rose bushes that I absolutely love. I want to protect them from beetles, mites and the long list of insects that love to eat roses without polluting the earth with toxins.

Natural Insect Repellent for Roses Recipe:
- Quart sized spray bottle filled with warm water
- 2 tsp Neem oil (if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, check with your doctor before using neem oil)
- 2 tsp Dish soap (use castile soap to be the most natural or just use whatever is at your sink)
Shake the bottle and spray your roses! Pregnant or potentially pregnant women should check with their doctor first. I have read several articles stating that neem oil could cause a miscarriage or prevent pregnancy. I think that it is if you take large amounts of neem extract orally; however, I could not find anything conclusive, so check with your doctor.
Neem oil makes roses (and other plants) more photosensitive, so avoid spraying during the day. I always spray mine in the evening when the sun is not so bright. I spray my roses once a week. If you already have an insect infestation, spray them more often to get them under control. It is best to spray your roses even if you do not see signs of an infestation. Natural insect repellant for roses does take a bit more work than a commercial spray. Using a natural insect repellent for roses rather than poisonous chemicals in my garden is a welcome trade off! I enjoy caring for my roses.
