Have you ever wanted to remove an object from a photo? I certainly have! When I am working with flowers I often end up with a stray leaf here or there that distracts from the “almost perfect” photo. We don’t all have access to Photoshop and since most of us are taking photos on our phones anyway, there has to be an easier way. The good news is that there is!
How I remove an object from a photo:
I use the app Retouch. It costs $1.99 and, in my opinion, is completely worth it. I use it a lot and I am not being paid to share it. :)
Sometimes, the only bit of wall space is marred by an outlet. If you don’t want it in your photos you have two options: 1. Renovate the wall and stop using electricity or 2. Fix it in less than ten seconds using Retouch.
Simply highlight what you want to remove and tap GO. You can use the lasso function for more accuracy if you’d like, but I usually just drag my finger over the object that I want to remove.
It is usually more accurate if you zoom in. If you try to remove a large area, the automatic removal might warp your image. You can use the clone stamp as well for extra accuracy. As you can see here, the wall had a bit if dirt that I also removed.
While this technology is not as advanced as Photoshop, it works very well to remove an object from a photo, especially small objects. While I try to take photos that are free from distracting elements, sometimes I just can’t avoid them. Lightroom Mobile has this function as well (for paid subscribers), but I find Retouch easier to use.
