I have had blasted acne for the last two decades. I always thought I would grow out of it by my twenties, by my first pregnancy, by my- fill-in-the-blank-I-don’t-know-what event until now when I am almost 34 and still have acne. This isn’t one of those posts where the blogger now says what product miraculously cured acne. I really, really wish that was what I am about to say, but it is not. Still, over the years, I have found some natural products for acne prone skin that seem to help my acne a lot and I always use them.

First off is this cleanser by Boscia. I found it because one day I walked into Sephora and begged the consultant to show me what product would miraculously cure me of adult acne. The man very confidently showed me this cleanser and I very faithfully bought it. It might seem a bit pricey, but one bottle lasted me for ages. To be more specific, the 50ML bottle lasted for about eight months. You don’t need very much at all to wash your face. Just pretend it is made from real diamond powder and fairy dust and only use a little bit, because that is all you need.

When it comes in contact with water, it warms up. LIKE MAGIC. I have no idea what this is doing to my skin, but I have been using it for about two years now and just bought the next half year supply. My acne seems worse when I am not using it. It does not make my skin feel very dry like other cleansers.

The next is quite natural: It is simply bentonite clay.

People rave about the numerous uses of bentonite clay. If you buy this, don’t read all of the reviews because I am pretty sure one of them will say it also cures cancer, then you will think it is all fake and never try it. I have been using bentonite clay as a facial for about six years, maybe seven. You only need to use about a tablespoon of dry powder at a time. I mix it to a smoothie-like consistency and let it sit on my face for an hour, though I think that a more reasonable time is about twenty minutes. I have noticed less acne when I use this about twice a week.

Next up is a wonderful cream for helping acne to heal more quickly. I love this Correct X essential oil ointment from doTerra. I have used two containers of it and want to buy more. It also works quite well on cuts and scrapes. Again, it lasts for a very long time because you only need to use a tiny bit. I often apply a light layer of this to my face at night as an acne preventative. It contains several essential oils including Frankincense, Cedarwood, Lavender, and Tea Tree (Melaleuca).

The last product for acne prone skin is fairly new to me. I have been using it for several weeks and really like it. It is the Bare Minerals Blemish Rescue Spot Concealer. I found this by wandering like a Dickensian orphan through Sephora and hoping to find a crust of bread, I mean, concealer stick that works and would not be toxic. This concealer contains Salicylic acid to help acne. It also features licorice root and mushroom stem to help fade scars, thank goodness, because I have a lot of them.

So that is it. I have an extremely short list of products for acne prone skin that I love and faithfully use. They don’t miraculously cure acne, but they do seem to help. If have found a miracle cure, please, by all means, leave it in the comments.
