Eco friendly gift wrap

Would you like to be more environmentally conscious and use eco friendly gift wrap? I have been using this method for a couple of years and it works very well. I didn’t think about this at first, so I thought there might be others out there, like me, who haven’t tried this simple solution.

It’s a good thing my daughter doesn’t read my blog :)

Paper bags from grocery stores! They usually have printing on only one side. If you wrap the present properly you can use it as a faux gift bag without cutting a thing.

Put your item in the bag and fold the printed side back before pinching it inwards. That way you can hide the printed side between the folds. You might have to practice this a couple of times so that it doesn’t create ugly folds. I promise you though that it is easy!

Now just tape the bottom and voila! Eco friendly gift wrap that is also free.

Now make it beautiful!

What brings simple brown paper packages to the next level is to tie them with string (see what I did there?) I usually use left over yarn from knitting projects, or cotton kitchen twine. Sometimes I use vintage lace or ribbon that I find at garage sales.

Lastly, they really pop if you tie a little bit of nature to them. I mostly use Christmas tree clippings and dried rose hips, but you can use dried orange peels, paper snowflakes, cinnamon sticks or dried flowers. I try to make it a point not to buy the decorations, but to use what I have on hand. This year I accidentally bought a batch of bad oranges, so I am going to dry them out in the oven to use as decorations.

I hope you try this eco friendly gift wrap. Brown paper packages tied up with strings… these just might be one of my favorite things. (Ok, ok, I’m done! I’m done!)

After you finish wrapping, why don’t you bake some cookies? This is my all time favorite vegan chocolate spice cookie recipe. I swear, it doesn’t taste vegan!
